The way I see it is that the 5.3.7 fix should theoretically get fed into the next 5.4 release. 5.3.7 was released after the last 5.4 release.

5.5.0b11 was released after 5.3.7 but I guess its beta and plenty of reasons why those fixes may not yet be fed into 5.5 just yet.

I don't understand why this fix isn't out for unity 5.4 and it is for unity 5.3 :S

Looks like 5.3.7 was released 31st Oct 2016. Missed that. Current 5.4.2 was released before that and I'm now on 5.5.0b11 which was released on November 9th but can confirm rather unsurprisingly that this fix isn't included. I guess that might mean there's hope that things will get rolled up into a final 5.5 release.

It's a shame, definitely something up with the audio side of Android on Unity. The half second delay issue is really annoying too, there's a plugin that fixes it in the store but just adds to the perception all is not quite right in that area.

I got this from the QA Team:

    --------------------------------------------------------
The 5.3.7 is not yet released, so that's why it is not available in the archive.

We release multiple Unity versions almost at the same time.
Currently You could look at them like this:
5.3 is our fallback version. Some of the latest functions may not me available there.
5.4 is our latest version. Most users should be using this.
    5.5 is our beta branch.

This means even though 5.3 < 5.4, the 5.3.7 will be a newer release than lets say 5.4.1f1.

The issue should be fixed when the 5.3.7 releases (unfortunately no exact date on that), other versions (5.4, 5.5) that release afterwards should also contain this fix.
    --------------------------------------

So bizarrely its fixed, but not released and therefore broken in all versions going forward until 5.3.7 is released. Effectively trashing the entire experience with anything made for Android with Unity in any version. I would have thought some of these things at least get pushed through to 5.5 beta or something.

    It's not resolved.

I have tested using unity cloud build with this option 'Always Use Latest 5.x'.

Please, make that if you tick Disable Unity Audio in the settings the background volume isn't modified at all when opening the app.

I don't think it's a good idea to force player to low the background audio or mute it though you mean it's fixed in version Unity 5.4.2p1. This solution just is like to say that "You play my game, you must listen my music, or you will just hear whisper!" This is really annoying~

    5.4.1f1 not solved.
    5.2.5f1 worked.
    (tested devices: samsung galaxy S3/ASUS Nexsus7 2013).
