Yes

"Run in Background" does not work for fullscreen

Graphics - General

-

To reproduce:
1. Open attached project
2. Go to player settings. Make sure "Run In Background" is enabled
3. Include the test scene and build&run
4. Select full screen. You'll notice a counter that goes up
5. Alt-tab and wait for a minute or two. Return to the game - the timer wasn't increasing in the background

Regression since Version 4.2.2f1

Note: This is specific to Direct3D 9. Enabling Direct3D 11 in the player settings will work around the issue. There will be a patch release for 4.5 with a fix shortly (http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/unity-patch-releases.246198/)

    Crap :\
Thats a game breaker for me
Lucky I was able to find out thats a bug before buying pro (was about to buy it at the beginning of august)

Is it confirmed that its fixed in Unity5 at least?
I have no idea what to do now :\

Can we get an update on this issue? Since it's taking so long I would imagine it's a difficult issue to fix, but having some form of confirmation that y'all are working on it would be greatly appreciated!!

This bug is causing a lot of problems in my online standalone. If this isn't fixed I will be forced to switch platforms. This is a VERY serious bug and it must be fixed.

You can meet same problem for locked screen whether your application is full screen mode or not.
It's very serious for me. I hope you to fix it as soon as possible.
To see this, try the following steps
    1. After run your unity application, Just press window key + L.
    2. Wait for some time.
    3. Unlock your windows.
    4. Check your application working status during locked screen.

Adding my voice here to say that this is a REALLY problematic bug for my MMO... Getting so many bug report from our players that all boil down to them Alt-Tabbing away from the game, and nothing I can do about it...

I came across the same issue when trying to run Leap motion in the background (I'm on mac osx). What i have found out however is that if you run in full screen an I click the desktop, my leapmotion script still runs.

If i select photoshop, it still runs, in fact it runs if i select most other IDE's/Apps. If however i select the Unity Editor the Built app running in full screen stops running. So i've managed to get my app to run in the background with the leap motion as long as i don't then select the UnityEditor app.
