"NullReferenceException" error thrown in UnityEditor.ObjectListArea when an audio clip is selected in one of two opened Project tabs while the second Project tab is not active/painted
Reproduction steps:
1. Open the attached “repro_IN-75329“ project
2. In the “Assets/FootSteps“ folder (use the left Project tab), press on the first audio file
3. In the window to the right, switch the Console tab to Project tab
4. Go back to Console (by pressing on the red text below) and observe it
Expected result: There are no errors in the Console
Actual result: Bunch of “NullReferenceException“ and “GUI Error“ errors appear in the Console
Reproducible with: 2021.3.38f1, 2022.3.28f1, 6000.0.1f1
Reproducible on: macOS Sonoma 14.4.1, Windows 11 (10.0.22631) (user’s)
Not reproducible on: No other environments tested
Notes:
- IMPORTANT: A consistent reproduction is only possible without interacting with the Editor in any way whatsoever before following the described reproduction steps. If you’re not able to reproduce the issue, please extract the reproduction project again, open it and immediately follow the described steps
- If a ““libMonoDebuggerHandling.dylib“ can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.” warning appears while launching the project on macOS, just press OK until the window stops appearing
- Error seems to originate in UnityEditor.ObjectListArea and UnityEditor.ProjectBrowser
