Unity doesn't fully support Khmer Fonts
Repro Steps:
1. Install Khmer font
2. Open Unity and create a new project
3. Import the Khmer "true type font" file into your assets
4. Create "UI" -> "Input Field"
5. In "Canvas" -> "Input Field" -> "Text" change the font to your Khmer font
6. Change written language to Khmer
7. Enter play mode
8. Type into the input field
Expected: For the letters to show properly, even the "combination" letters
Actual: a) On Windows everything you write is marked as "?"
b) On Mac plain characters are written properly but, characters which are a "combination" don't work
(For e.g. If you press "s" you should see this symbol "ស", and this works as intended. If you press "s" and then "j" you get "ស្" and this also works as intended, but after that if you press "s" again, it should do a "combination" letter, like "ស្ស", but all it does in the Editor is "ស្ ស"
Reproduced on: 2017.1.0b1, 2017.1.0a6, 5.6.0f3, (The Khmer font doesn't work completely on: 5.5.3f1, 5.4.0f1)

Due to the nature of the bug, it was decided that it won't be fixed for the foreseeable future. It is still in our database and we may come back to it, but we can't say when this will be ready for release.
In the meantime, since the defect is touching our text system, please use Text Mesh Pro.

Is there a reason this is marked as Won't Fix?

We've had clients with similar problems as well. It seems like the native font inside Unity is using Arial and doesn't have the proper glyphs for it. It shouldn't seem like something hard to add or to include it as a font system inside package manager.

its honestly very frustrating that unity doesn't support even they do not support khmer and also other languages like hindi etc so unity is not the best option obviously when making a multi language game. thinking of moving some other software
