Undo of Timeline selection generates error

Package: Timeline

-

Undoing the selecting a GameObject with a Timeline (Playable Director) that contains a Control Track with a prefab, generates an error in the console...

repro:

- open attached project and UndoBug scene...
now, with the Timeline window open...
- select another GO in the scene (ex: Camera) to clear the Timeline window (Timeline windows should display create button)
- Now re-select the Timeline GO in the scene (Timeline with Control Track should now be displayed)
- Ctrl (CMD) -Z to Undo...
bug: error

Destroying GameObjects immediately is not permitted during physics trigger/contact, animation event callbacks or OnValidate. You must use Destroy instead.
UnityEditor.EditorApplication:Internal_CallGlobalEventHandler()

This bug is present since at least 2019.4 to present, 2021.2

  1. Resolution Note:

    We are currently in the process of revamping the way Timeline interacts with PlayableDirector, which will make this bug irrelevant and is less risky than attempting to patch this right now.
