Undo doesn't restore object connection to the script when deleting object before entering Play mode
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open ExampleProject
2. Select 'Main Camera' and drag cube to the target connection under the camera's script "Test" component
3. Delete the Cube from Hierarchy
4. Play the scene
5. Stop the scene
6. Undo once (or until cube is restored)
7. Click the Main Camera and check the script connected for 'target'
Expected behavior: Object (Cube) is connected to the script
Actual result: Object is not connected to the script
Reproduced with: 5.5.0b2, 5.4.1f1, 5.3.6p2, 5.2.5f1
Note:
-if you skip the step of playing the scene, the connection will be restored as expected.
-C# script has a line "public GameObject target;" under the class declaration
