Editor crashes when painting tiles using the Tilemap Editor
How to reproduce:
- Open the user-attached project (Platformer.zip)
- In the Hierarchy select the “Grid“ GameObject
- In the Scene view press the “Open Tile Palette“
- In the “Tile Palette“ window that opens up press on the brush icon
- Paint a tile in the Scene view
- Observe the crash (if it doesn't crash immediately wait about a minute)
Reproducible with: 2021.3.6f1, 2022.1.7f1, 2022.2.0a17, 2023.1.0a2
Reproducible on: Ubuntu 20.04, Windows 10
Notes:
- The issue is not reproducible on 2020.3.36f1 due to the “2D Feature” package being unavailable on the Editor stream, but going to “Assets/Tilesets/Ground“ in the Project view and selecting the “Ground“ prefab also crashes the Editor likely due to the same issue
- Not reproducible on a new 2D project
- The crash doesn't seem to produce any stack trace
