"AnimationClip" type assets are not released from the memory when exiting Play Mode
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open the attached project “IN-14036.zip“
2. Open the “Assets/Scene01.unity“ Scene
3. Enter Play Mode
4. Open Window > Analysis > Memory Profiler
5. In the Memory Profiler window click the “Capture New Snapshot“ button
6. Open the taken Snapshot and go to the “Objects and Allocations” tab
7. Sort the “Type“ column by “Sort Ascending“
8. Notice that there are no “AnimationClip” type assets in the memory
9. Exit Play Mode
10. Open the “Assets/Scene02.unity“ Scene
11. Repeat 3-7 steps
12. Notice that “AnimationClip1“ is now in the memory
13. Repeat 2-7 steps
14. Notice that “AnimationClip1“ is still in the memory
Expected result: “AnimationClip” type assets are released from the memory when exiting Play Mode
Actual result: “AnimationClip” type assets are not released
Reproducible with: 1.4.8 (2020.3.39f1), 1.6.4 (2021.3.9f1), 1.7.1 (2022.1.17f1, 2022.2.0b7, 2023.1.0a11)
Reproducible on: Windows 10
Notes:
1. Look at the attached video (“Memory.mp4“) for clarity
2. “AnimationClip” type assets are released when Timeline is not used

Unfortunately, after careful consideration we will not be addressing your issue at this time, as we are currently committed to resolving other higher-priority issues, as well as delivering the new animation system. Our priority levels are determined by factors such as the severity and frequency of an issue and the number of users affected by it. However, we know each case is different, so please continue to log any issues you find, as well as provide any general feedback on our roadmap page to help us prioritize.
