A sound does not loop if it was just loaded before being played
To reproduce:
1. Open Unity Test Project
2. Open TestScene
3. Inspect the script ApplicationController - source.loop is set to true
4. Press play - a sound is played, but it does not loop
Note: if you were to play the sound again, it would loop fine
