VFX Template sorting by modification or last used date is not consistent when switching areas

Visual Effects

-

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open the attached project
  2. In the Project window, Right-click and select the option to create a new Visual Effects graph
  3. In the VFX template window, set sorting to Last Used
  4. In the Search Query builder, add an Area block set to Packages
  5. Observe the List order
  6. Switch the Area block to All
  7. Observe the List order again

Actual results: List ordering changes despite the same templates being captured by the area query

Expected results: Since "Packages" and "All" area queries capture the same templates, ordering should remain consistent

Reproducible with versions: 6000.5.0a8

Can’t test with versions: 6000.0.70f1, 6000.3.10f1, 6000.4.0b12, 6000.5.0a4 (No search field in the Templates window)

Tested on (OS): Windows 11, macOS 26.3.1

Notes:

  • Reproducible with Last Used and Modification Date sort options
