Text Mesh Pro 3.0 Input field throws error "no canvasRenderer attached to caret" when created
To Reproduce:
-Create a new unity project
-Install TextMeshPro (Window -> Package Manager - > TextMeshPro)
-Create input field with textmesh pro (gameobject -> UI -> InputField TextMeshPro)
- Enter play mode
Expected result:
no errors
Actual result:
2 errors saying "There is no CanvasRenderer attached to the "Caret" game object"
Note:
This does not happen in earlier versions
Package version effected:
TextMeshPro 3.00
Packages unaffected:
All bellow 3.00

Update to new text mesh pro fixed it for me, no problems!

Update to a newer version of the Text Mesh Pro package. Confirmed resolved with 3.0.0-preview.14 at the latest.

Resolution Note (fix version 3.0.0-preview.3):
This issue has been resolved. The fix will / is included in version 3.0.0-preview.3 of the TMP package for Unity 2020.x.
