Support a floating point encoding for HDR cubemaps on mobile
A customer has asked for RGBM-encoded (or similar accuracy) cubemaps to be supported on mobile as well as on desktop. At the moment it looks like doubleLDR is the only encoding which is supported which limits the amount of range that can be created in the cubemaps to be between 0.0 and 2.0.
Comments from the customer about this:
"I find it weird that Unity would be a special case for cubemaps, cubemaps are just textures after all.
In this instance I will have to write my own RGBM encoding of the cubemap source texture, and treat it as a PNG, as the current solution offered by Unity is far from good enough. Also considering that Unity offers no support for true HDR textures on mobile ( I have a support ticket open for that too ).
Please let you developers know, that HDR has already come to mobile, and that Unity is behind in this regard."
