Why are there so many Unity issues being mysteriously marked as fixed when it's not? Unity 5.6.3

I am also getting this error on Unity 2017.1.0f3. I cannot figure out what input device is causing it. I am running a win10 desktop with an oculus Rift attached and a wired keyboard and mouse.

I'm also getting this issue in the latest version (2017.1.0f3) of Unity; in my case it seems to be related to my bluetooth microsoft surface mouse.

We are experiencing this issue in Unity 5.5.1f1 Standalone build. In our case it happens when there is a Microsoft Kinect camera plugged in and screen is turned off using remote or display port is disconnected from graphics card.

Experiencing this issue in Unity 5, though it didn't occur in any previous versions. I tend to leave Unity open for extended periods of time when I'm working on a project & this error message is really clogging things up, not to mention making a mess of general debugging. I'm sure it's not a top priority, and I hope it's not a complicated fix, but I'm also sure I'm not alone in saying that having the issue resolved would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

    thought i'ld add this one:

<RI.Hid> Failed to create device file:
    1 Incorrect function.

generated for each USB device connected to system (for whatever reason)... fills console after period of time, makes debugging a real pain when it (Unity) decides to flood this error.
