Passing prefab's transform as a parent while Instantiating the prefab fails silently

To reproduce:

1. Open the attached project (
2. Open the SampleScene
3. Enter Play mode
4. Press Space to Instantiate a prefab with its own transform as the clone's parent
5. Observe that nothing happens
6. Exit Play mode and see that there are errors in the console, though they do not explain what exactly the problem is

Expected: as setting the prefab's transform as an instantiated object's parent is not allowed, there should be an error message when trying to do so during instantiation

Reproduced in 2017.3.2f1, 2017.4.4f1, 2018.1.0f2, 2018.2.0b5, 2018.3.0a1
