Material can't be added to an object in the scene
How to reproduce:
1. Open the attached Unity project
2. Load SampleScene scene
3. Try to add New Material to the cube in a Scene view
Expected result: Cube changes its color
Actual result: Material is not applied
Workaround: Add material to the object in the Hierarchy view
Reproduced with: 2022.1.0a10
Didn't reproduce with: 2022.1.0a9, 2021.2.0b13.
