Icon quality decreases after building
Steps to reproduce:
1) Open the project attached by me (iconTest.zip).
2) Build the project for any platform (Standalone, Android, iOS).
3) Open the build as an archive (view its contents).
4) Locate the icon file of the build.
- Compare the icon from the build with the icon .png file in the Assets folder of the project. The icon becomes blurred after building.
- The issue occurs in iOS, Android and standalone builds.
Reproduced on:
5.5.0a1, 5.4.0b23
Did not reproduce:
5.3.5p5, 5.2.4f1

Where is the new case in the issue tracker?
I am having the same issue as well (also using 5.4.2f1) for months now and it's really, really annoying when deploying. Also it's quite sad how long this issue persists already.

Tested with 5.4.2f1 and I cant believe this issue is still not fixed!
We do have a work around for iOS pasting our own images within Xcode, however it's far more complex to do it for Android since you need to manually build from android studio and sign the app.

Yep still there, this needs more attention. For mobile devs this is as bad as a crash on launch.

Any news on this? It's rather embarrassing bug for Unity. I've made a tool called Draconus Icon Manager for managing high quality icons because the built-in Unity icon scaler does really bad job, and now I'm getting support emails asking if the tool is broken because icons look blurry!

It's been three (3!) months now and this issue still has not been fixed.

Here's a workaround for iOS: after building to XCode go to 'General' tab, then scroll down to 'App Icons Source' and click that tiny arrow icon on the right. There you can drag n drop icon png's directly in xcode window. It runs with crisp icons after replacing them in XCode that way.

All the details in my icons are gone. We need a quick patch.
