Regression
Yes
Asset becomes corrupted when it is overwritten by the same asset with the same name
How to reproduce:
1. Open the attached project "SaveLoadTest.zip"
2. Open scene called "SampleScene" in the attached project
3. Select "Test" GameObject in the Hierarchy window
4. Click the "Save Preset" button on Inspector to create an asset named "TestAsset"
5. Click the "Save Preset" button again to create another asset but use the same name "TestAsset" to overwrite the old one
Expected result: the overwritten asset doesn't get corrupted (you can still open it, use it, or delete it)
Actual result: the overwritten asset becomes corrupted
Reproducible with: 2020.3.1f1, 2020.3.21f1, 2021.1.25f1, 2021.2.0b15, 2022.1.0a6
Not reproducible with: 2019.4.31f1, 2022.1.0a7, 2022.1.0a12
Notes:
- The asset also losses its icon shown in the Project window
- Restarting the project or creating a new file in the Project window seems to fix the corrupted asset
