World space canvas aren't rendered to render texture
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open attached project
2. Open scene "repro"
3. In hierarchy, select Main Camera and notice that UI Image is visible in preview
4. Run scene
5. In project tab, select New Render Texture and inspect that nothing is rendered to it
Reproduced with: 5.3.4p2, 5.3.4p6, 5.4.0b18
Not reproducible with: 5.3.4p1, 5.4.0b14, 5.4.0b16, 5.4.0b17
Regression introduced in: 5.3.4p2 and 5.4.0b18

Sorry, this IS fixed (but not correctly marked as fixed). The issue is in just cubemap render textures.

What about the fix? It has been in review for 2 years.

Is there any way that this fix can be introduced to the beta version of Unity? 2018 b1 still shows this same behavior.

I've found that in the meantime you can roll back to 5.3.3, the last build (I believe) where this works. Hopefully 5.3.6 will be released soon, this is a pretty crappy state :^/

yeah wasted lot of time trying to fix it, installed several version, until founded its a bug..
@TANGSTENcq works for me in Android+Cardboard(0.7) in 5.3.4f1

I also confirm that world space canvas does not work in 5.3.4f1 and Beta 5.4.0b18 /w Google VR SDK for Unity v0.8. It also did not work for Google Cardboard SDK with 5.3.4f1. Canvas UI will display elements with sprite renderer but not the image renderer. People rely on image renderer for canvas UI to be more responsive to screen size but as of now I'm stuck with waiting till a fix, or remake everything with sprite renderer instead of image. But without image renderer I can't use the Fill method. Please help us Unity Bros.

It's really URGENT to solve this regression !
We can't maintain our apps, especially VR where the World Canvas is deeply used !
