I've also had this issue and I tried adding the "SteamVR_UpdatePoses" component to the main camera (camera eye) but my navigation settings for the controllers still won't work, also my preview no longer works after applying that and I have to 'Build and Run' the scene every time I need to check out the scene. I even tried installing an older version of Unity 5.5.0 and the same thing occurred even with the SteamVR_UpdatePoses being added on...

Confirmed in 5.6.1f1 with SteamVR 1.2.1.

Indeed, Emthele's linked solution works, by adding the Steam VR_UpdatePoses component to the "Camera (eye)" element of the [CameraRig] object.

Just wanted to add that for any other n00bs like me that wander in here looking for answers.

The same problem occurs in 5.6.0f3 and in 5.6.0p1. This is with the SteamVR plugin 1.2.1 in Windows 10. When previously working with 5.5 and SteamVR plugin 1.2.0 this problem did not exist.

Don't know where error comes from, but temporary workaround is here:
    http://answers.unity3d.com/questions/1299567/vive-controllers-not-tracking-in-unity-560b3.html
Add "SteamVR_UpdatePoses" component to the main camera (camera eye).

I don't think this isn't really a Unity issue, it's a missing script from the SteamVR plugin.

Does this mean the end of vive support?
