Values are not intialized to default ones when executing JsonUtility.FromJson
Reproduction steps:
1. Open the attached “Test Project” project
2. Open the “Scenes/SampleScene” Scene
3. Enter the Play Mode
4. Observe the Console window
Expected results: Assert.IsNull succeded in running with the “fooFromJson.bar” value
Actual results: The Console window throws out an error: “AssertionException: Assertion failure. Value was not Null”
Reproducible with: 2020.3.48f1, 2021.3.25f1, 2022.2.18f1, 2023.1.0b16, 2023.2.0a14
Reproducible on: Windows 10
Note:
- The docs (https://docs.unity3d.com/ScriptReference/JsonUtility.FromJson.html ) mention that “if representation is missing any fields, they will be given their default values”.
