Unity crashes when entering paused play mode with VR enabled
Reproduction steps:
1. Open the attached project
2. Make sure that Single Pass and VR is enabled in Player Settings
3. Click on Pause
4. Click on Play
Result: Unity crashes, only happens when VR is enabled.
Reproducible on 5.6.0b2
Not reproducible on: 5.5.0p3
Tested on a Windows 10 system.

I have reproduced this issue many times, I am currently on 5.5.3f1 with HTC Vive.
