UnityException error is thrown on creating material preset of any Renderer
UnityException error is thrown on creating material preset of Tilemap
Steps to repro:
1. Create a new project.
2. GameObject > 2D Object > Tilemap.
3. Create material preset from the burger menu.
Actual Result:
UnityException error is thrown in the console.
Expected Result:
No error in the console.
Tested with Unity Version: 2020.1.0a14, 2019.3.0b12, 2019.2.0f1.
Tested with Package Version: 1.0.0.
Environment:
Windows 10 & Mac 10.14.
Stack trace:
UnityException: Creating asset at path failed.

Resolution Note (fix version 1.5.0-preview.3 & 2.1.0-preview.3):
This issue has been resolved. This will be fixed in the new release of the TMP package which will be version 1.5.0-preview.3 for Unity 2018.4 and 2.1.0-preview.3 for Unity 2019.x.
