Regression
No
"preferredHeight" returned value is not always correct when Japanese characters are used in text
How to reproduce:
1. Open the “Test.zip“ project
2. Open the “SampleScene“
3. Enter Play Mode
4. Obsere the Game view
Expected result: Both panel heights are the same
Actual result: The upper panel is shorter
Reproducible in: 2021.3.41f1, 2022.3.39f1
Could not test in: 6000.0.12f1 (the text is automatically smaller with the same font size)
Reproduced on: Windows 11 Pro (23H2), macOS 13.6.7 (M2)
Not reproduced on: No other environment tested
Notes:
- Certain Japanese characters are wider than others, which could affect the “preferredHeight”
- If in the top panel the last character (“し“) is added one or more times, the “preferredHeight“ returns the correct value

This is already fix in Unity 6+ and in the latest version of Text Mesh Pro. I would suggest upgrading either the editor or the package.
