Resolution Note (2020.1.X):
At this point, we believe that only this particular GPU series is affected. GPUs with similar amounts of on-board memory and of a similar age do not exhibit this behaviour, so there is reason to believe that this is a driver bug on Apple's side. A Radar has been raised, however, given the age and limited modern-day usage of this hardware, we cannot guarantee that this will be addressed in a future OS update.
The workaround is to uncheck Metal support in the Editor, which should have no negative effect on the workflow for iOS/Android. Unfortunately, we do not believe there is a way for us to workaround the problem from the Unity code side.
