Inspector does not update changes to Assets made through Editor scripts
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open the attached project (model_import.zip)
2. Select Assets/Resources/Materials/sample.mat
3. Observe the Inspector. Standard shader is chosen.
4. Press the right button (on sample.mat)
5. Select "MaterialChange"
6. Observe the Inspector. Inspector is not updated.
Expected result: Inspector should be updated
Actual result: Inspector is not updated

Resolution Note:
This particular case has been investigated thoroughly and we have decided, in the interests of protecting the stability and features of Unity for users that rely upon the affected versions, to not address this fix. We understand that this will cause problems for some users, and fully intend for an existing, or forthcoming upgrade to provide the solution that you need.
