"Metal: Fragment shader missing texture binding at index 0 (_MainTex / Hidden/BlitCopy)" when packing sprite into atlas, Metal only

1. Player Settings > Check Metal Editor Support Experimental
2. Import any sprite
3. Right click > Create > Sprite Atlas
4. Pack the sprite into the atlas

Expected: No errors.
Observed: Metal: Fragment shader missing texture binding at index 0 (_MainTex / Hidden/BlitCopy)

Occurring on: 2017.1.0a5 onwards until 2017.1.0b2 (current latest)

    Still occurring in my Unit 2017.4.15! Please re-enable voting or fix this for real.

    I'm getting spammed with this message in the console using 2018.1.0f2 on OSX with Metal turned on.

    I still have this warning spammed in 2017.1 with Metal turned on.
