I don't know what I'm most impressed by. The entitlement (OPs words, not mine), or that Unity actually fixed this. Even though it has NO VOTES. If there is an actual bug, you have to wait months for them to react. (I shipped products with hacks that worked around them.) But this? Highest priority.
I dislike the whole "I'm switching engines!" mentality, but... I'm seriously considering it. I've used Unreal professionally and was rather fond of it. I only came back to Unity because I teach it in university, but really... I'm not disliking the engine, just the mentality of the developers.

WTF, why is dark mode even a premium thing - dark mode is an expected setting and it's stupid that unity is trying to build a wall around it, just give people what they need and stop being a dick about it.
People aren't going to be paying for dark mode so it should not be a premium feature, make unity more comfortable so beginners stick around and later pay - otherwise you're just making other engines more comfortable relative to unity.
If you work with XNA you get a dark mode, to a beginner it makes unity worse than XNA.

How lame do you have to be, Unity? I work in a dark environment and I hate how bright everything is.

What compelled you to go on the issue tracker and spend 5 minutes tattling on a tool which helps amateur developers protect their eyes.

Nobody is buying pro just for dark mode. The users who are paying for pro would still be paying for it if dark mode was made free.

Pretty lame to try to extort $40 a month (not even a single payment, recurring!) from broken beginner individual developers with nothing more than the ability to change the background colour of the window. So, "we will make your eyes bleed until you pay us $40 a month", huh?

OH WOW ! I realy want to buy the pro version just FOR A DARK THEME, seriously why... this feature is just free everywhere else, it's just better for my eyes health, SO WHY !
The only think that keeps me on unity is the incredible community.... but your engine.... I don't know why you spend your time on fixing this kind of things....
