Disabling "Optimize Game Object" creates a (Clone) GO in the hierarchy
Reproduction steps:
1. Open the attached project
2. Open the "bug" scene
3. Select "Adam_03Crowd" in the asset explorer
4. Go to the "Rig" tab
5. Deselect "Optimize Game Objects"
Result: a clone of the Game Object is created in the scene
Reproducible on: 5.5.0p3, 5.6.0b3
Not reproducible on: 5.4.4f1
