Decals in URP are not drawn on the Terrain during additional Texture passes (Terrain Layers above 4) when using the DBuffer or Automatic rendering technique
How to reproduce:
1. Open the attached “IN-48471 URP Terrain Decals.zip“ project
2. Open the “SampleScene”
3. Observe the Game view
Expected result: The red circle Decal is drawn on all terrain layers
Actual result: The red circle Decal is drawn only on the first 4 layers from the terrain layer stack
Reproducible with: 2021.3.29f1, 2022.3.8f1, 2023.1.10f1, 2023.2.0b6, 2023.3.0a2
Reproduced on: Windows 11 Pro (22H2), Windows 10 (10.0.19045) (by the reporter)
Not reproduced on: No other environment tested
Workaround:
1. Select the “URP-HighFidelity-Renderer” in the “Settings” folder
2. In the Inspector, under the Decal Renderer Feature, change the “Technique” to “Screen Space”
Notes:
- Additional Texture rendering passes are missing the Decal drawing logic from the DBuffer
- Reproducible in Player

We acknowledge that the current Terrain system has a number of limitations, so we are currently investing in a large amount of discovery work to determine exactly what is needed most and how we can bring it to you at the quality level you have come to expect and address the most pervasive pain points in the most effective and efficient manner.
