Camera reallocates RenderTextures causing a drop in performance when assigning the targetTexture property
How to reproduce:
1. Open the user’s attached “PortalPerf2023.zip” project
2. Load “Test” Scene
3. Enable the Statistics window in Play window
4. Enter Play Mode and observe the FPS in the Statistics window
Expected result: Camera’s RenderTextures realocation does not cause a drop in performance
Actual result: Camera’s RenderTextures realocation causes a drop in performance
Reproducible with: 2022.2.0a1, 2022.3.8f1, 2023.1.11f1, 2023.2.0b7, 2023.3.0a3
Not reproducible with: 2021.3.30f1, 2022.1.0a16
Reproducible on: Windows 10 22H2, macOS (Intel) Ventura 13.4.1
Not reproducible on: No other environment tested
Notes:
- ~200 FPS decrease from 2022.1.0a16 to 2022.2.0a1
- Reproducible in Player
