Scene view turns bright grey when typing in the Hierarchy search field
How to reproduce:
1. Open the attached “Unity3D Tester.zip“ project
2. Open the “SampleScene“ Scene
3. Open the Scene view
4. Type anything in the Hierarchy search field
Expected result: The Scene view doesn’t become bright grey
Actual result: The Scene view becomes bright grey
Reproducible with: 2021.3.29f1, 2022.3.6f1, 2023.1.7f1, 2023.2.0b3
Reproduced on: macOS 13.4.1 (Intel), Windows 10 (by reporter)
Note: “Assertion failed“ and “ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null.“ errors were also thrown in the Console when testing older versions, but that issue was fixed by: https://issuetracker.unity3d.com/product/unity/issues/guid/UUM-36458

Resolution Note:
Hi, thanks for the report. This behavior is by design to highlight any all objects matching the search query. The rest of the scene view turns grey, but matching objects stays in full color.
