This issue still exists in Unity 5.50f3 for Mac. I am using OS X El Capitan.

The menu bar was visible in OSX Yosemite, but is gone in El Capitan and macOS Sierra.

This happened only on El Capitan and Sierra, not on Yosemite. This bug was also reproducable in one version of 5.3.x but was fixed in a later version of 5.3.x

It kind of kills our software, we had to move to 5.4.x and now the users cannot find the menu bar anymore and they think the software is broken.

It's an annoying bug. Hope it gets fixed soon. Shame really because it was working perfectly for a brief period.
