[Linux] An existing project can't be added to the Hub projects list if the Unity Editor was never launched

Linux

-

How to reproduce:
1. Create a new OS User
2. Install Unity Hub for the new user
3. Open Unity Hub
4. Add any existing project to the Unity Hub

Expected results: Project is added successfully
Actual results: Project is not added, no error message is thrown

Reproducible with Unity Hub 2.2.2
Tested on Ubuntu 18.04

Additional notes:
1. A best workaround is to create and launch a new project. Then existing projects can be added without any issues.
2. An issue does not reproduce on Windows 10 and macOS

  1. Resolution Note:

All Linux fixes are scheduled for Unity 2021.2 as the Linux support feature.

Description is accurate. Tried on Ubuntu 2020.4 and UnityHub version 2.4.3, same results.
Lost half a day with this. Please fix.

Exactly as described above. No need to copy your current project into new projects folder as Tutankhamen describes though. You can just add your own project as normal once you've created the unwanted new project.

Temporal workaround: make a new project, exit unity, delete the content of the newly created project folder and copy the content of the project's folder you wanted to add.
