Custom VFX template names in "Create a new VFX Asset" window update only when searching or sorting

Visual Effects

-

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create a new HDRP project
  2. Create a new Empty VFX Asset (Create -> Visual Effects -> Visual Effects Graph -> Empty VFX) and name it "Test"
  3. Select the new Asset and enable 'Use as Template' in the Inspector
  4. Change the Template Name to "Head"
  5. With the window still open, Select the "Test" VFX Asset and change its Template name to "Hello"
  6. Observe the Template names (note that "Hello" is displayed)
  7. Open the "Create a new VFX Asset" window (Create -> Visual Effects -> Visual Effects Graph)
  8. Select the "Test" VFX Asset and change its Template name to "Testing"
  9. Observe the Template names (note that "Hello" is still displayed)
  10. Search for "Hello" in the search bar
  11. Observe the search result

Actual results: Nothing is displayed

Expected results: The "Hello" VFX template is displayed

Reproducible with versions: 6000.5.0a5, 6000.5.0b3, 6000.6.0a2

Can’t test with versions: 6000.0.72f1, 6000.3.12f1, 6000.4.2f1, 6000.5.0a3 ("Create a new VFX Asset" window doesn't have search functionality)

Tested on (OS): Windows 11 Pro

Notes:

  • The problem is rather with how only the searching functionality (or sorting functionality) refreshes the details about the Templates (when this should or could happen when collapsing, selecting, or even after rename validation of the custom template)
