Regression

No

Asset thumbnails are pink (not updated) after using SRP

Package: Scriptable Render Pipeline Lightweight

-

Asset previews are not updated according to the change of RenderPipeline.

Steps:
1. Use the attached project
2. In Graphics Settings, set to use Lightweight Render Pipeline Asset
3. On ProjectView, look at the material previews

Expected: Scene/Game/all thumbnail/previews are pink because they are using builtin standard shader (correct)
Actual: Material thumbnail on ProjectView is not updated, see attached image

OR

1. Create a new project with LWRP template
2. On ProjectView, type "t:Material"
3. Observe that the materials are pink & the shaders are using Builtin Standard shader
4. Select one of the pink material and right-click > reimport, the shader will become LightWeight Lit, so not pink anymore

Reproducible in :2019.2.0a5, 2019.1.0b4, 2020.2.0a1 (2b390ef0ffff)

Still happens in 2023.2.17 and 2023.2.18
Seem like whatever process that generates the prefab icons gets hung up on something then defaults to a blank icon, or generates the models with no lighting. We NEED more clarity on the process that happen when an icon is gernated.

New File Detected -> Gets Type -> If Mat || Prefab || Model -> ????? -> Icon magically appears or it doesnt...

Same issue. Inported an asset that used HDRP into an URP project, updated everything correctly but thumbnails remain pink on assets (prefabs) that used URP before? (Unity 2020.1.0b6.3521 on Macbook Pro 2018)
