[Android] Default Icon is not used if Adaptive icons are not set
Steps to reproduce:
1. Start a new project
2. Switch to Android and go to Player Settings
3. Set the Default Icon to any other custom icon
4. Build to device
5. Observe that Unity logo is shown instead
Expected: "Default Icon" field should change the unity logo icon if "Adaptive icons" field is not set
Reproduced in: 2018.3.0a3, 2018.2.0b11, 2018.2.0a7
Not reproduced in: 2018.1.7f1, 2017.4.6f1
Regression since: 2018.2.0a7
Fixed in: 2018.3.0a7

Seems fixed in 2018.2.4f1 (released August 17th), I just updated and did a quick test on my Android 8.1 device.

Workaround:
Set default icon as an Adaptive one and everything would be cool

This issue is impacting me as well. What does "Fixed in Unity 2018.2" mean? In which exact version is this fixed? Im running 2018.2.0f2 and am experiencing this bug.

By the way, adaptive icons seems to be not suitable for me as they are cropped with unpredictable result. Is there a way to disable adaptive icons with Unity and get old 192x192 icon working?

Yes, that was unexpected for me too. And I didn't notice any release notes about this feature.
